Don’t Be Reasonable #193

Excellence requires discipline. When you don’t have discipline, you get sloppy. When you get sloppy, you fit right in with the mediocrity the status quo fully supports.

We were watching the post-game show after the Vikings played recently when the legendary Chuck Foreman (#44) made this statement about excellence “when you’re playing (the game) at a professional level, the people in your life need to understand what that means. If they can’t understand that your sole focus needs to be on (the game), they need to go.”

To do anything at a level of mastery, it requires focus and discipline. If the people around you aren’t on the same page, they will work to talk you into being reasonable. Being reasonable won’t produce excellence. Being reasonable will only produce more of the same. The masses will agree with being reasonable.

Don’t be reasonable. Be excellent.
