As a person who packs a lot into my weeks, looking ahead can cause stress.

When I focus on this day, this week, and what I need to focus on, I’m more creative and resourceful. I still need to look ahead and balance the future needs of my commitments, so I don’t end up short of time or surprised.

Balancing this has been an art more than a science.

Staying present to where I am, what’s needed now as well as preparing for what’s approaching, requires presence and thought.

When I have a week like the one I’m in – four presentations for four different audiences – I have to ask myself why I do it. What’s my purpose?

When there’s a lot on the line, it matters that you do the work as if it’s the only time you’ll ever do it, regardless of how many times you’ve done it before.

After all, it may be the only time that audience will ever experience the content.

No phoning it in, they deserve your best.

It’s time to rise to the occasion.
