A Year to Forget

For this week’s episode of Intentional Greatness®, I wanted to do something a little different since 2020 has been a year like no other. This is an opportunity for you to join me in reflecting on all of the transformative events that reshaped the way we think about our careers, our communities, and our lives. Let’s talk about everything that has happened this year so we can process it together and reframe our perspectives moving forward. From a global pandemic to worldwide racial unrest, 2020 will not be missed. Let’s take a look at how this whole thing has panned out so far.

Power in Numbers

In 2020, uncertainty has become the norm. It has challenged us as business leaders, families, and neighbors in ways we have never encountered before. But we have the ability to move from uncertain to unfuckwithable and unstoppable. How do we accomplish this? It starts with identifying all of the changes we’ve experienced and how they have impacted our lives. Only then can we start to look at them objectively and create an actionable plan based on where we were, where we are now, and what lies ahead. It may be extremely difficult to picture what things will look like in 1 month, 6 months, or 1 year from now. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that we have power in numbers, and each of us is a resource for someone who’s struggling.

The Changes Brought by 2020

I put together a list of all the changes 2020 has brought so far, and it will help put into perspective how far you’ve already come. You can find it in the resources above. We have accomplished a lot, believe it or not. But there is work to do. There have been ups and downs. There has been progress and setback. And there has been an overarching theme of division in every facet of society. But we still have no idea what is going to happen in the coming months. All of the changes have highlighted what little control we actually have, but in our ability to flex and adapt, many of us have found new strengths and wins that we will carry through this moving forward.
