On BEing Human #25

Who are you? Minus what you do, what you produce, minus your title; who are you?

It’s a big question; can you be still enough to answer it? Will you remain quiet, uncomfortable, and open to all that floods into your brain like a freight train out of control to sit with the question?

For the doers, the list makers, the proud, over-competent, get-it-done crowd, will you sit still long enough to hear the question?

It isn’t an easy one to be with. It encourages deep thought, undoing of your identity as you know it and a heap of humility to dive into it and swim around in all that’s revealed to you.

It’s easier to skirt the edges and do things, produce things, reinforce all that the world has come to depend on you for.

There’s a reason we’re called human BEings, not human doers or human done. Will you take the time to find out who you are? If so, ask the question and be still.
